Iraqis have used the yashmagh since ancient times / Sumerian era. It is usualy worn with a traditional Arab outfit. Cuneiform dictionaries state that the origin of the word Yashmagh consists of two sections in Sumerian language from آش ماغ, which means a great headdress or آش ساخ, i.e. the cover of the great priest.)
