When I first started working on the Sudanese dictionary, I despaired of being able to find good resources. Over time, though, and largely thanks to people I’ve met online and never in person, I’ve found some surprisingly good resources for the material. Among the most impressive is Dr. ‘Awn al-Sharif al-Qasim’s Arabic-Arabic dictionary for the dialect, which was sent to me by someone who I had met online. Then, when I mentioned her generous gesture online, someone else shared a website with quite a large collection of books related to Sudan, which, despite hours and hours of searching for resources online before this, had never come up. Although the Sudanese dictionary on The Living Arabic Project remains a draft of the writing of this, it is only because my hands have been full with other dialects.
